A client requested that their vintage 3-drawer chest be reincarnated with a landscape painting of Provincetown, MA, on it.

2

Here we see the full frontal view of the chest.  The old tin drawer pulls have been replaced with painted wooden ones to blend in with the composition.

A close-up view of the drawers reveals exacting details of the historic buildings along the shore of Cape Cod Bay.

4

The top and legs of the chest were painted off-white and given an antique glaze finish.

5

A close-up view of the lower left front of the chest shows minute details, right down to the tiny seagulls strolling along the sand bar.  Reflections in the water add to the realistic and natural beauty of the scene.

6

A view of the left side of the chest shows a tranquil scene of a couple holding hands as they walk across a sandbar in old Cape Cod Bay.  In the distance is a lighthouse that seems to beckon them.

The right corner view of the chest shows the painting wrapping around the corner.  This technique allows the viewer to get lost in the painting, almost losing the form of the chest itself.

A close-up view of the right side of the chest shows a traditional Cape Cod-style house with a million dollar view of old Cape Cod.  The vegetation and bright pink flowers are an accurate depiction of those commonly found during the summer season around the dunes.

This view of the top of the chest shows the aged and distressed look produced by a traditional antique paint glaze technique.
