01 Entrance

This is the entrance to the boys' bathroom in this client's Princeton, NJ home. The walls were given a crisp horizontal stripe in white and "Smokey Dome" (MAB Paints). The vanity was given a make-over as well.

From their adjoining bedrooms, the boys share the bathroom, as well as a love of exotic cars. Through the vanity mirror we can see the reverse image of the legendary Ferrari — Enzo — "parked" just outside the "open window" in true trompe l'oeil style.

Originally finished in a light natural maple, the vanity base now has a chic metallic style which, along with the horizontal stripes, is more in keeping with the "racy" automotive motif.

A close-up in the vanity mirror shows the reverse image of the boys' beloved dream car between the shower and the door to a bedroom. 'Ya think this might get the guys to spend a little more time on personal hygiene???

Designed in keeping with the automotive motif, the vanity has been given a beautifully leveled (smooth) coat of oil-based liquid aluminum paint, and the brass pulls have been replaced with stainless steel. MINGARI has also given the door panels an exotic look with an antiqued silver faux animal hide finish framed by a crisp black border. This adds a level of sophistication and nicely complements the clients' "checkerboard flag" rug.

Here we see the correct (non-mirror) image of the boys' beloved dream car, which they may contemplate while "parked" on the "throne." The stripes lend themselves generously to the trompe l'oeil effect located between the door and the towel rack on this flat wall. The classic red Ferrari adds a nice punch of color to the room, and the leathery tan background provides a warm balance to the colors.
